Siemens launches new DR unit at ECR show

VIENNA - Germany multimodality vendor Siemens Healthcare of Erlangen, Germany, introduced a new digital radiography (DR) system at this week's European Congress of Radiology (ECR) meeting.

The vendor reported that its new Ysio system is designed to be customized by users to meet their clinical demands. Ysio can be configured with one or two detector heads, with a patient table or without, or with fully automated or synchronized operation. Siemens offers a software tool that enables customers to determine the most appropriate variation.

Ysio includes a MaxTouch touchscreen in the ceiling-mounted support that enables users to control system functions such as examination and exposure parameters. Ysio users who select the fully automated ceiling-mounted support also can use up to 500 preprogrammable system positions.

Ysio also includes a wi-D wireless detector that can be removed from the table and placed directly underneath or next to the patient. Patients can be imaged without having to leave a wheelchair, for example. Images are transferred to the diagnostic workstation via wireless LAN, according to the company.
