The German Röntgen Society (DRG) has expanded its interactive e-learning platform to help radiology lecturers and students access course content and modules during the pandemic.
The DRG's "unirad" offer, available since 2018, is now supplemented by numerous new courses, notably the modular e-learning package "CoRad-19" aimed at universities with medical faculties, the society announced on 30 April.
Each institution can decide which CoRad-19 courses it would like to use for teaching based on the needs of its students, the society noted. It added that 13 universities -- among them Lübeck, Tübingen, and Zurich -- are already using the DRG's digital courses. After completing an online course, each student receives a certificate, which he or she can submit as proof of learning.
No additional software is required for the CoRad-19 courses: A PC with an internet connection is sufficient to use the interactive case-based teaching modules and apply learning in practice. The 10 courses from the CoRad-19 package cover the entire range of topics in radiological training, including neuroradiology and musculoskeletal and interventional radiology, among others.
The course contents and case collections were developed by seven experts: Dr. Saif Afat (Tübingen), Dr. Bettina Baessler (Zurich), Dr. Nienke Hansen (Cologne), Dr. Katharina Müller-Peltzer (Freiburg), Dr. Ahmed Othman (Tübingen), Dr. Daniel Pinto dos Santos (Cologne), and Dr. Fabian Rengier (Heidelberg).
Every university that enters into a unirad cooperation agreement will now automatically have access to the additional modular teaching content of CoRad-19, the DRG stated. Further information is available in an introductory video on the DRG website.
