The Alliance for MRI will hold a reception at the European Parliament in Brussels on 8 November.
The reception, "Ensuring patient access to Magnetic Resonance Imaging," will discuss the implications of the revision of the EU Physical Agents Directive 2004/40/EC. As a result of the concerns raised by patient groups, the medical and research community, and members of the European Parliament across Europe, the European Commission has proposed a revision of EU Physical Agents Directive and the inclusion of a derogation for MRI.
The Alliance for MRI said the reception will provide participants an opportunity to better understand the following:
- The implication of the proposal for the future of MRI
- The importance of a derogation for MRI
- The relevance of MRI to diagnose, treat, and research major health threats such as cancer, cardiovascular, and neurological diseases
