France's union of private radiologists (Fédération Nationale des Médecins Radiologues, FNMR) has welcomed the publication of amendment 7 to the Medical Convention, which will officially reestablish "Code Z" specific to radiology tariffs from 1 January 2020.
The Code Z tariff, previously removed from the government's health insurance reimbursement for radiology acts, represents the heavy investment that imaging facilities need to make to buy and upgrade equipment, according to a statement issued by FNMR on 29 August.
Getting Code Z reinstated was one of the union's key goals due to the code's specificity and therefore symbolic value to radiology, FNMR stated, adding the amendment represents a success for the union and for radiologists.
