The International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF) and the European Society for Clinical and Economic Aspects of Osteoporosis, Osteoarthritis and Musculoskeletal Diseases (ESCEO) have released updated guidance for diagnosing and managing osteoporosis in postmenopausal women. The document was published on 15 October in Osteoporosis International.
The new guidance updates one previously released in 2013, and includes information on the evaluation of bone microstructure in fracture risk assessment, the role of the Fracture Risk Assessment Tool (FRAX) in secondary fracture prevention, and increased fracture risk on stopping drug treatment, the two organizations said.
