EuroEcho-Imaging 2017 will include a focus on phenomapping, an emerging field that uses statistical methods and data from cardiac imaging to create an imaging phenotype that can be used to personalize treatment of cardiovascular disease.
Meeting organizer the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) reported that other hot cardiovascular imaging hot topics at EuroEcho-Imaging 2017 will include the use of the following:
- Holograms and 3D printing to guide procedures such as repair of congenital heart defects and replacement of heart valves
- Imaging for early detection and prevention of heart damage caused by cancer treatment
- Fetal cardiac MR and fusion imaging to improve the diagnosis and treatment of congenital heart diseases
Interventional imaging and imaging in heart failure will be the main themes of EuroEcho-Imaging 2017, which is the annual meeting of the European Association for Cardiovascular Imaging (EACVI). The EACVI is a registered branch of the ESC.
The conference will be held on 6 to 9 December in Lisbon, Portugal. More than 3,200 healthcare professionals from over 90 countries are expected to attend the four-day event, according to the ESC.
