How do smartphones contribute to patient care and communication between a hospital and its community? Attendees will learn all about it at next month's EuroHeartCare 2017.
The annual meeting of the Council on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (CCNAP) is scheduled for 18-20 May at the Spira Cultural Center in Jonkoping, Sweden. CCNAP is part of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC), which will collaborate with the Swedish Association on Cardiovascular Nursing and Allied Professions (VIC) on the event.
The scientific program is expected to attract more than 500 delegates from more than 40 countries to listen to the latest research from original scientific abstracts and gain insights into areas of nursing and cardiovascular care.
Wireless technologies such as smartphones are being developed for many aspects of cardiac patient care, said Dr. Gabrielle McKee, program chair of EuroHeartCare. Features that include remote ECG and rhythm monitoring have the potential for patients to alert the hospital when arrhythmias or a heart attack occur.
The annual meeting also will address the ramifications of obesity and how behavioral and lifestyle changes could benefit heart health.
The theme "Team Work for Excellence in Cardiovascular Care" will be featured throughout the event and will detail how multidisciplinary teams can deliver treatment for a heart attack within an hour from the onset of chest pain to keep a patient alive.
