New U.K. Imaging Services rules released

The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) and the Society and College of Radiographers (SCoR) have released a new Imaging Services Accreditation Scheme (ISAS), which went into effect on 25 January.

The new ISAS replaces the 2013 version and is designed as a patient-focused accreditation scheme to enhance imaging services by managing the quality of those services and promoting continuous improvements.

More specifically, the leadership and management domain recognizes that effective leadership and management is the cornerstone to quality improvement and excellence.

In addition, the equipment statement within the facilities, resources, and workforce domain (previously FR2) has been divided into two domains. The first revised statement relates to procurement of equipment, while the second section covers equipment installation, calibration, and maintenance.

Accreditation visits and assessments are carried out for the colleges by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS).
