The U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) has published an updated version of its original guidelines for radiotherapy dose fractionation.
The second version of the guidelines takes into account major advances that have occurred in the planning and delivery of radiotherapy over the last decade, including the wider implementation of intensity modulated radiotherapy (IMRT), new trial data, greater standardization of treatment, the growing work and influence of the National Cancer Research Network and the National Institute Network, and the advent of cancer care networks, according to the RCR. New sections have also been added to address skin, penile, and renal malignancies, and the guidelines also highlight the role of combined-modality treatment and the potential for stereotactic radiotherapy, the RCR said.
The new guidelines can be found on the RCR's website.
