The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) has launched two new initiatives with an eye toward the next decade.
New Horizon 2020 will feature European eHealth Interoperability Conformity Assessment Scheme (EURO-CAS), which creates a consortium of 16 partners from 12 countries to collaborate with national authorities and health agencies to enhance e-health interoperability.
The EIBIR will coordinate EURO-CAS, which will operate for 24 months and will establish an operational CAS based on ISO/IEC 17025 to meet the interoperability requirements of European e-health projects, as well as national and regional e-health programs.
In addition, the Smart Optical and Ultrasound Diagnostics of Breast Cancer (SOLUS) project is designed to develop a multimodal imaging system, which would combine diffuse optics and ultrasound for the diagnosis of breast cancer.
This effort will include nine industry, academic, and clinical partners from five European countries, as well as research institutes and universities. The EIBIR will support and coordinate the four-year project through project management tasks, communication, and dissemination of work.
