Fellows of the U.K. Royal College of Radiologists (RCR) have elected Dr. Nicola Strickland as the college's next president.
Strickland's three-year term will begin on 14 September at RCR's annual meeting in London. She is a consultant radiologist at the Imperial National Health Service (NHS) Trust, and she defeated three other candidates in the vote to replace the current president, Dr. Giles Maskell.
Among the defeated candidates were Dr. Fiona Gilbert, professor of radiology at the University of Cambridge, Dr. John Hyslop, a consultant radiologist from Falmouth who unsuccessfully stood for the U.K. Independence Party in the 2015 general election, and Dr. Duncan Ettles, a consultant radiologist at Hull & East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust and professor of radiology and honorary senior lecturer in radiology at the University of Hull.
