This year's International Day of Radiology (IDoR) will highlight radiologists' role in detecting and treating pediatric diseases.
The celebration is held each year on 8 November, the day Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered x-rays in 1895. More than 120 radiological and medical societies plan to participate, including more than 40 European, 20 North American, 13 Latin American, and 11 Asian national radiology societies, as well as five African societies representing 26 countries.
IDoR is organized by the European Society of Radiology (ESR), the American College of Radiology (ACR), and the Radiological Society of North America (RSNA). This year, the event will also be supported by the European Society of Pediatric Radiology (ESPR), the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR), and the World Federation of Pediatric Imaging.
As part of the celebration, the ESR, the ESPR, and the SPR have produced a book on pediatric radiology that includes articles written by more than 40 international experts that give insights into the work of pediatric radiologists. As well, experts from more than 20 countries will share their experience of pediatric imaging and answer questions most frequently asked by parents whose children are undergoing imaging exams.
