The parents of a 7-year-old girl in Turkey are suing the hospital where they say she sustained burns during an MRI scan. The family has also filed a criminal complaint, say published reports.

The girl was undergoing an MRI scan at a hospital in Istanbul that was supposed to last 45 minutes. Instead, she emerged from the scanning room two hours later with bandages on her hands and arms, according to an article on Hurriyet Daily News.

The hospital's medical report indicated that the burns happened during the MRI scan, according to the family's lawyer. The girl will require surgical procedures to treat the wounds, the lawyer stated in court documents.

The family is asking for the equivalent of $91,000 (85,000 euros) in Turkish lira as compensation.
