DRG posts tribute to Roland Felix

The German Roentgen Society (DRG) has posted an obituary for radiologist Prof. Dr. Roland Felix.

Felix died on 24 June at the age of 87. Until his retirement in 2006, he headed the department of radiation oncology at the Virchow-Klinikum Campus of the Charité of the Humboldt University in Berlin, where he also served as dean of the Charité from 1999 to 2001.

As an honorary member of the DRG, Felix remained active in scientific committees and regularly participated in professional exchanges, according to the DRG.

"His professional career was characterized by leadership responsibility, professional expertise, and many years of academic work," the society said. "The DRG honors Roland Felix as a figure who has helped shape the field of radiology for decades."

Born in Berlin in 1938, Felix completed his training in radiology and radiation oncology in Munich and was appointed full professor of radiology at the Free University of Berlin in 1978. He also served as medical director of the Freie Universität Berlin-Klinikum Charlottenburg, as well as deputy medical director of the Rudolf Virchow Hospital, which was later integrated into the Charité.
