Leading private French radiology group VIDI has announced a partnership with disinfection company Germitec for the cleaning of its ultrasound probes using Germitec's Chronos system. VIDI's Poitiers center, Pictavix, is the first to have the system installed.
According to VIDI, the Chronos solution permits high quality disinfection through UVC rays without the use of chemical products -- an advantage for the environment and medical teams undertaking disinfection, the group stated. It added that the system is 100% recyclable, generates no toxic waste, and is also very fast, at 90 seconds per disinfection cycle.
The UVC system conforms to new recommendations for ultrasound practice published by the French Ministry of Health in 2019, and each new disinfection procedure will be archived and included in the patient's file for traceability, VIDI stated.
VIDI comprises 40 centers and 700 radiologists across France.
