A pair of new x-ray systems was among the new product launches for Toshiba Medical Systems Europe at last week's European Congress of Radiology (ECR) in Vienna.
The first product is a mobile radiography system equipped with a wireless digital radiography (DR) detector, while the second system is a surgical C-arm that can be fitted with either a flat-panel DR detector or a conventional 9-inch image intensifier. The surgical C-arm includes a spot fluoroscopy mode with asynchronous collimation in which the system can be synchronized to a region of interest that's not in the center of the image.
Both units were shown at ECR 2012 as works-in-progress, and commercial delivery is expected in September 2012. The units are not available in either Japan or the U.S.
Other ECR 2012 highlights for Toshiba included a rollout of the company's adaptive iterative dose reduction (AIDR) 3D algorithm to the firm's Aquilion, Premium, and Prime CT scanners. Toshiba also made European launches of the Aplio 500, Aplio 400, and Aplio 300 ultrasound scanners.
