Four nuclear medicine societies have collaborated to establish the Nuclear Medicine Technologists in Theranostics International Consortium (NMT-TIC).
The consortium brings together experts from the Australian and New Zealand Society of Nuclear Medicine (ANZSNM), the European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Molecular Imaging (SNMMI).
The consortium's framework will include the following actions:
- Define the evolving role of nuclear medicine technologists (NMTs) in theranostics and clinical trials.
- Identify regional enablers and barriers to high-quality care.
- Propose harmonized competencies and education pathways.
- Elevate recognition of NMTs as integral members of the theranostics team.
Part of this work includes issuing a survey that will help with developing recommendations for NMT education, training, and professional competency standards in the field of theranostics.
More information on the consortium and the survey can be found on the EANM's site.
