A U.K. tribunal has issued an additional 12-month suspension to a clinical oncology specialist who received a year-long suspension for misconduct in October 2024.
Jan Mozny's medical misconduct case dates back to 2020, when he was working as a locum consultant specializing in medical oncology at the University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust, U.K.
Allegations against 73-year-old Mozny included failing to inform a patient about the results of a CT scan and prescribing chemotherapy without documenting the consultation. He has expressed remorse for his misconduct, according to the Medical Practitioners Tribunal Service (MPTS).
Mozny now lives in the Czech Republic, and he told the MPTS in advance that he would not attend the October review hearing, saying he is still in the process of making a voluntary erasure application.
"Dr. Mozny doesn’t intend on ever returning to practicing medicine in the U.K., due to [XXX] and believing that he is too elderly," the MPTS stated.
In 2024, the tribunal found Mozny's fitness to practice impaired by reason of his misconduct in 2020 and a lack of evidence of keeping his clinical knowledge up to date and continuing professional development.
The case went to tribunal in April 2023. Mozny has waived his right to attend tribunal proceedings, according to the record.
