The global fluoroscopy and mobile C-arms market generated $1.69 billion U.S. (1.49 billion euros) in revenue in 2012 and will grow at a compound annual growth rate of just 3% to reach $2.08 billion U.S. (1.84 billion euros) in 2019, according to a report from Transparency Market Research.
Increasing demand for interventional radiology operations are expected to contribute to growth, along with other factors such as higher number of orthopedic surgeries due to sports injuries and a geriatric population, technology developments, and an increase in the number of hospitals, Transparency said.
While fluoroscopy devices made up the largest share of the fluoroscopy and mobile C-arms devices market in terms of revenue in 2012, the mobile C-arms section is currently dominating the market in terms of volume, according to the company.
In other projections, Transparency said it expects the full-size C-arms sector will develop at a faster pace during 2013 to 2019, thanks to technical advances and multiple applications.
