The International Contrast Ultrasound Society (ICUS) has launched an app for both mobile and desktop devices that helps improve echocardiography workflow and the appropriate use of ultrasound-enhancing agents.
The app, called the "CEUS Calculator," was developed at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. It combines three variables -- age, heart rate, and weight -- to predict whether a patient would benefit from use of a contrast agent during an echocardiogram for assessment of left ventricular opacification.
The calculator is free to use and can be downloaded from ICUS Connect on the society's website, it said.
