Royal Philips, the parent company of Philips Healthcare, has announced a seven-year managed service agreement with Leeds Teaching Hospitals National Health Service (NHS) Trust.

The Leeds Cardiac Clinical Unit offers specialist cardiology services to more than 25,000 local and international patients. Philips will provide the unit with six, fully-featured interventional cardiac suites, including specialized electrophysiology suites and a structural heart suite.

The cardiac suites include advanced patient monitoring features and ultrasound systems. They work with Philips' Azurion advanced image-guided treatment platform, enabling clinicians to provide minimally invasive surgery.

The deal also includes support for designing new patient pathways and workflows. Philips has already begun working with the Leeds Cardiac Clinical Unit to reorganize lab allocations and improve patient flows, helping the team address the backlog of cases that accumulated during the novel coronavirus pandemic.
