Canon signs equipment deal in Russia

Canon Medical Systems has signed an agreement covering the sale and maintenance of medical imaging equipment in Russia.

Canon is setting up a joint venture with R-Pharm Holding to sell and service scanners made by Canon in all nine countries that are part of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), including Russia. The joint venture will be established on the receipt of necessary regulatory approvals.

The deal extends a partnership between Canon and R-Pharm that began in 2019 covering the territory of the Russian Federation. That deal covered plans for future cooperation between the companies in the sales and maintenance of medical imaging equipment, as well as localization of manufacturing of Canon Medical equipment in the future.

The joint venture will be called RP Canon Medical Systems and will be based in Moscow. The joint venture covers the Russian Federation, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, and Tajikistan.
