Radiation oncology vendor Elekta has installed its Unity MR/radiation therapy (MR/RT) system at the Royal Marsden and the Institute of Cancer Research (ICR) in London.
The Royal Marsden and the ICR recently began treating its first patient using Unity, according to Elekta. The patient had localized prostate cancer and began receiving hormone treatment in May; his prostate-specific antigen level indicated he was ready to start radiotherapy and was offered treatment on Unity, the company said.
