Radiation oncology firm Accuray said the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, has completed the first patient treatment using an online-adaptive approach together with its CyberKnife system.
The patient was treated for oligometastases in the pelvic region. The procedure was performed as part of a new clinical trial at Erasmus Medical Center to evaluate stereotactic body radiation therapy provided by the CyberKnife platform for treating oligometastatic disease in the pelvic or para-aortic region, Accuray said.
Accuray and the institution are partnering to develop an integrated imaging technology tailored for use with CyberKnife in treating oligometastastic disease.
