Proton therapy developer Mevion Medical Systems has delivered the compact accelerator for its S250i proton therapy system to a clinic in the Netherlands.
The accelerator was delivered to the Zuid-Oost Nederland Protonen Therapie Centrum at the Maastro Clinic in Maastricht. The 15-ton accelerator serves as the core of S250i and was lowered by crane into the treatment center for installation to the gantry system, Mevion said. The center is expected to begin treating patients by the end of the year.
