Varian's Halcyon treats first patient in Europe

Radiation therapy firm Varian Medical Systems said University Hospitals Leuven in Belgium has completed the first treatment of a patient in Europe using its new Halcyon radiation therapy platform.

An 80-year-old man with head and neck cancer received the milestone treatment, according to the vendor. Varian introduced Halcyon at the European Society for Radiotherapy and Oncology (ESTRO) meeting in May.
