GE Healthcare is highlighting the results of its dose-management software for all 10 public hospitals in the region of Murcia, Spain.
Radiation emission has been reduced by more than a third since 2015, when the facilities began using GE's DoseWatch dose-monitoring software. DoseWatch has been used for more than 210,000 CT exams, 43,000 mammography exams, and 23,000 interventional radiology exams in the region, according to the company.
Having implemented a central system to measure and control radiation dose, Murcia Health Services is now in compliance with the new 2013/59/Euratom directive, which sets basic safety standards for protection against exposure to ionizing radiation. The directive goes into effect in February 2018.
