French portable ultrasound developer Sonoscanner is highlighting reports on the performance of its compact Orcheo Lite TE scanner on the International Space Station (ISS).
The company is collaborating with France's National Center for Space Studies (CNES) to evaluate its remote-controlled Orcheo Lite TE ultrasound system, which has spent six months in outer space.
Sonoscanner signed a contract with the CNES in 2015 to be on board the ISS in order to carry out a series of tests to confirm its effectiveness to monitor biological changes of ISS passengers.
So far, Orcheo Lite TE has been used with no problems, according to the company, during conditions that include the challenges of gravity in space, and has provided diagnostic-quality images despite a three-second delay and substantial distance between the subject and healthcare practitioner.
