Agfa HealthCare is installing its online appointment scheduling software at Imelda Hospital in Bonheiden, Belgium.
The institution is serving as a pilot site for the online appointment system. Once implemented, the system will enable Imelda Hospital's patients and referring physicians to log on to view, cancel, modify, and book appointments 24/7, and they can indicate preferences, such as requesting a specific clinician, according to the vendor. The online appointment system integrates with the hospital's existing scheduling software via the HL7 Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources (FHIR) standard.
Hospitals can define which types of appointments can be booked or modified by patients, and the search engine finds the first available appointment slot when resources are available, Agfa said. Reminders and instructions can also be provided for patients, helping to smooth workflow and reduce no-shows.
