A PACS developed by Carestream Health and partner Accenture has saved Spain's Andalusian Health Service (SAS) 1.5 million euros over the first 15 months of its implementation, the vendor said. Furthermore, the service can yield additional annual savings of 65% over the coming years, Carestream noted.
The 6.7 million euro project was based on an agreement between SAS and the public company Red.es, and was completed at the end of 2015. It has helped digitize and store more than 30 million radiology and nuclear medicine tests, making them available to physicians from 80 public hospitals and 1,600 health centers in Andalusia, according to the firm.
