DITTA endorses refurbishment standards

The Global Diagnostic Imaging, Healthcare IT, and Radiation Therapy Trade Association (DITTA) has thrown its support behind good practices for refurbished medical imaging equipment.

The recommendations from the National Electrical Manufacturers Association (NEMA) and the Medical Imaging and Technology Alliance (MITA) in the U.S. builds on years of work by DITTA members and creates quality management and process requirements for refurbishment.

In a prepared statement, DITTA Chair Satoshi Kimura said the standards are "built on best practices gained from industry experience for refurbishment performed over decades. It ensures that refurbishment results in equipment meeting the intended use, performance, and safety specifications as defined by the original manufacturer, and will lead to improved patient access to advanced healthcare."
