Hitachi Medical Systems Europe has signed an agreement with MedCom to distribute that company's BiopSee functional imaging system for biopsy and therapy guidance.
BiopSee combines multiparametric MRI with real-time ultrasound and performs stereotactic, navigated, and targeted prostate biopsy and therapy guidance, in addition to supporting 3D ultrasound image acquisition for urology applications. It also includes an electronically tracked stepper to provide millimeter precision for transperineal biopsy, with a magnetically tracked freehand probe for transrectal ultrasound (TRUS) and abdominal procedures.
The companies have agreed that Hitachi will be the sole distributor of BiopSee in Europe for Hitachi's installed base and when bundled with Hitachi products. The agreement was announced at this week's European Association of Urology (EAU) annual meeting in Munich.
