Finnish dental imaging technology developer Planmeca's ProModel package was part of the first facial tissue transplant in a Nordic country.
Planmeca ProModel helps clinicians design and create patient-specific implants, surgical guides, and skull models from conebeam CT and CT images, according to the firm.
The procedure was conducted earlier this year at the Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa in Finland. It took 21 hours and consisted of transplanting the patient's upper and lower jaw, lips and nose, as well as skin segments and midfacial and tongue muscles and nerves, Planmeca said.
