Italian women's imaging vendor Internazionale Medico Scientifica (IMS) announced that Dr. G. Saguatti of Bellaria Hospital in Bologna, Italy, has performed a digital breast tomosynthesis-guided biopsy with the patient in the prone position.
Saguatti combined stereotactic vacuum-assisted breast biopsy with tomosynthesis using IMS' Giotto Class mammography unit with its Flexitable biopsy table, IMS said. The procedure was the first in the world, according to the firm.
