Radiation oncology firm Elekta has received the CE Mark for its Leksell Gamma Knife Icon cranial radiosurgery system.
Now available in Europe, Icon offers stereotactic imaging, Elekta's online Adaptive DoseControl technology, and the availability of frameless treatments, according to the vendor. It can treat virtually any target in the brain, Elekta said.
University Hospital La Timone in Marseilles, France, is the first institution to install Icon and plans to treat its first patients with the system in July, the company noted.
