Varian Medical Systems has won a $70 million contract to equip and service a new proton therapy center in Aarhus, Denmark.
The company will provide its ProBeam system with dynamic peak scanning and its Aria information management software for the new four-room National Center for Particle Therapy, which will be located next to Aarhus University Hospital. Varian will install the equipment in mid-2017, and patient treatments are expected to start in the second half of 2018.
The company's ProBeam technology is being used to treat patients at the Scripps Proton Therapy Center in San Diego, the Rinecker Proton Therapy Center in Munich, and the Paul Scherrer Institute in Switzerland. Varian also has contracts for system installations at seven other sites around the world, according to the firm.
