Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) in the Netherlands has placed an order for a RayStation radiation therapy workstation from RaySearch Laboratories.
The radiation therapy planning software firm and the university's oncology department have long collaborated on projects, and the latest will focus on adaptive radiation therapy. Adaptive therapy delivers radiation dose continuously during the course of treatment to account for changes occurring in the patient's anatomy, Raysearch said.
The project is aimed at significantly improving tumor control while sparing healthy tissue and reducing the risk of side effects, the company said.
