Demand for mobile x-ray and retrofit upgrade kits will drive growth in the global x-ray market in the next few years, according to a new report from IMS Research.
Revenue in the worldwide market for general radiography x-ray is projected to rise to 2.8 billion euros ($3.69 billion U.S.) in 2017 from 2.2 billion euros ($2.9 billion U.S.) in 2012, the company said.
The report, "The World Market for General Radiography and Fluoroscopy X-ray Equipment -- 2013," also found that mobile and x-ray retrofit upgrade kits will grow by 13% and 15%, respectively, during the same timeframe. Flat-panel detector equipment will show modest growth, while computed radiography and analog x-ray sales are expected to decline, IMS Research said.
