Radiotherapy developer Eckert & Ziegler Bebig has signed an agreement with ZAO MSM-Medimpex, a Russian distributor of radiation therapy and nuclear medicine equipment, regarding the local production of brachytherapy devices.
The agreement will enable MSM to manufacture a portfolio of brachytherapy products. The contract covers the sale of production assets from Bebig to MSM, a license for the use of Bebig's intellectual property, and support for the development of local afterloader modules.
Bebig said the agreement will strengthen its position in the Russian brachytherapy market, and will allow the company to participate more prominently in future government cancer-care investments. These are expected to increase significantly through Russia's new state oncology program, according to a company spokesperson.
