French echotherapy firm Theraclion has received the CE Mark for its high-intensity focused ultrasound (HIFU) device called EchoPulse, which is designed for the noninvasive treatment of breast fibroadenomas.
Echotherapy is a noninvasive therapeutic approach in which HIFU scans (10,000 times higher than normal ones) are used for a specifically localized ablation with no skin damage, according to the vendor. The treatment is focused on a small area where the temperature rise leads to tissue necrosis. Such precision avoids harming healthy tissues around the lesion, the company said.
