Artemis Diagnostics gets cash injection

Cancer surgery imaging technology company Artemis Diagnostics has been awarded two grants from the U.K. Technology Strategy Board to support development of its imaging devices for clinical trials and to undertake market research in the U.K. and the U.S.

The Smart grants from the Technology Strategy Board total more than 120,000 pounds (around 149,700 euros). The agency's mission is to stimulate and support business-led innovation.

Artemis' optical imaging technology can noninvasively measure cancer biomarkers in an operative setting, enabling targeted surgical interventions or drug delivery. It is currently developing a molecular imaging endoscope and a molecular imaging intraoperative camera. The endoscope will be used for the diagnosis, staging, and surgical guidance of non-small cell lung cancer and colorectal cancer. The intraoperative camera is being developed for surgical guidance of breast cancer.
