Athens meeting to focus on atherosclerosis

The European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging (EACV) has announced that the theme for Euroecho, its annual congress scheduled for 5-8 December in Athens, will be imaging of atherosclerosis.

A secondary theme will be noninvasive cardiovascular imaging techniques and outcomes. New echocardiographic techniques such as tissue Doppler imaging and 2D speckle tracking of myocardial dysfunction can help detection subtle abnormalities.

The congress will also focus on the use of new echocardiograph technology, such as contrast echo, tissue Doppler imaging, 3D echo, and stress echocardiography, and other modalities, according to EACV.

EACV, formerly called the European Association of Echocardiography, said that it expects Euroecho to attract more than 3,000 cardiologists, cardiology surgeons, sonographers, and internists from more than 90 countries.
