GE introduces Optima NM/CT 640 at EANM congress

At this week's European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM) meeting in Milan, GE Healthcare has unveiled Optima NM/CT 640, the latest addition to its nuclear medicine 600 series of SPECT/CT technology for the Discovery NM630 scanner.

The NM/CT 640 system integrates a gamma camera with a four-slice CT scanner specially designed for hybrid use, GE said. The CT component is available in both 2.5-mm and 5-mm slice thickness that optimize dose and resolution. The scanner is also available as an upgrade to the four-slice NM630 CT SPECT scanner.

The NM/CT 640 has a small footprint and all the features of GE's Xeleris Workstation with Evolution technology. The technology minimizes the trade-offs required between acquisition time, dose, and image quality, enabling patient dose reductions of as much as 50% while maintaining image quality, according to the vendor.
