PACS developer Sectra identified Centre d'Imagerie de Morges, a private imaging center in the Swiss canton of Vaud, as the first facility in the country to offer a diagnostic examination combining both a mammogram and an osteoporosis check.
Starting this month, the center is using Sectra OneScreen, a modality that takes an image of the hand immediately following completion of a mammography exam. The hand image undergoes regulatory agency-approved automatic image analysis to detect signs of osteoporosis using Sectra's online service.
Patients who are positively identified will be encouraged to have a dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DEXA) exam.
The Centre d'Imagerie de Morges is one of several affiliated with the 3R Réseau Radiologique Romand Group, an independent Swiss group of radiology and medical imaging centers.
