Agfa HealthCare signed a contract with the Hovedstaden Region of Denmark to install its IMPAX integrated RIS and PACS in all of its hospitals.
A new IMPAX Data Center will provide a cross-regional image and data repository, the company said.
The Hovedstaden Region is one of five administrative units in Denmark providing healthcare treatment to 1.6 million inhabitants, or approximately 30% of the population of Denmark.
The IMPAX RIS/PACS will replace five different RIS and PACS platforms currently used by the region's hospitals. The 12 hospitals perform an average of 1.5 million diagnostic imaging exams per year. Image storage requirements are expected to exceed more than one petabyte (or one million gigabytes) during the lifetime of the RIS/PACS, the company said.
The Agfa Data Center will serve as a centralized repository for radiology, cardiology, nuclear medicine, and clinical physiology. Interfaces will provide communication between the IMPAX solution and the region's existing hospital infrastructure.
