Image display firm Barco has sold 25 Coronis Fusion 6MP DL display systems to Labmedicin Skåne, one of the largest healthcare laboratories in northern Europe, to be used for digital pathology diagnosis.
The monitors will form part of the integrated digital pathology systems that will be installed in laboratories located in Helsingborg, Kristianstad, Lund, and Malmö, Sweden. Other components of the system include digital slide scanners and a laboratory information system.
The systems will replace glass slides, with images transferred to a central database. Labmedicin Skåne estimates that the four-site integrated system will produce 500,000 digital slides annually once fully operational by spring 2012. The digital system is expected to reduce turnaround time for interpretation by pathologists and facilitate remote consultation.
