Carestream Health has released MR brain perfusion and MR brain diffusion software modules for its Vue PACS diagnostic viewer application.
The MR brain perfusion module provides interactive tools for analyzing tissue blood flow, tissue blood volume, and capillary permeability, according to the vendor. It can automatically generate perfusion maps and insert a table of quantitative data into the radiology report. Both the MR perfusion module and Carestream's CT perfusion module provide automatic identification of arterial input function, venous output function, and brain centerline with the ability to edit and select additional vessels, according to the company.
The MR brain diffusion module offers interactive tools to assist in analyzing and comparing MR diffusion-weighted images (DWI) and MR diffusion-tensor imaging. It visualizes local water diffusion properties from the analysis of diffusion-weighted MR data. In addition, the module automatically displays DWI images and calculates apparent diffusion coefficient (ADC) maps, the company said.
Both modules completed clinical evaluation at a prominent French hospital, according to Carestream. They each have received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) 510(k) clearance and have also been approved for Europe and other countries around the world, the company said.
