Computer-aided detection software developer Riverain Technologies has received the European CE Mark for its ClearRead +Confirm software and is introducing it at the 2012 RSNA meeting in Chicago.
Currently being reviewed for Food and Drug Administration 510(k) clearance, ClearRead +Confirm is designed to improve the visual clarity of chest x-rays and increase radiologists' efficiency by reducing the time it takes to accurately confirm the proper placement of peripherally inserted central catheters and gastric tubes, according to the company.
The software immediately processes any portable chest x-ray, creating a second soft-tissue image with the ribs and clavicles suppressed and increasing the contrast, sharpness and visibility of tubes, lines and cardiac wires. The radiologist toggles between the original and processed images to confirm proper placement.
