Siemens launches cardiac ultrasound applications

Siemens Healthineers has launched new AI cardiology applications for its Acuson Sequoia ultrasound system, as well as a new 4D transesophageal (TEE) transducer for cardiology exams.

The AI-powered cardiology features include AI Measure, which automatically obtains measurements needed for routine echocardiography exams and the 2D HeartAI feature for improving exam efficiency and workflow during cardiac strain imaging. 2D HeartAI measures deformation in the myocardium and streamlines ejection fraction evaluations and cardiac strain analyses with or without contrast, which can reduce unnecessary follow-up exams, Siemens said.

The new Z6T 4D TEE transducer facilitates biplane imaging, enabling clinicians to view multiple scan planes simultaneously for faster and potentially more accurate diagnosis, the company added.

The applications and new transducer round out the Acuson Sequoia ultrasound system, which is now suitable for regional hospitals, as well as radiology and vascular clinics that use a shared service business model, Siemens noted.
