The European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR) has made several appointments to its scientific board, including that of Dr. Gabriel Krestin, PhD, as its scientific director.
Krestin, who chairs the radiology department at Erasmus University Medical Center Rotterdam in the Netherlands, and served as the European Society of Radiology (ESR) president during ECR 2012, was nominated at EIBIR's general meeting held during ECR 2014 in Vienna. In a statement accepting the EIBIR honor, Krestin said his goal was to strengthen EIBIR and increase its activities to become the most effective and efficient research for biomedical engineering in Europe.
During its general assembly meeting at ECR 2014, EIBIR also named several new representatives, including shareholder representatives Hans-Ulrich Kauczor, Philippe Pereira, Marcus Hacker, Graciano Paulo, Yan Liu, Fabian Kiessling, Elna-Marie Larsson, Karen Rosendahl, Vincenzo Valentin, and Emanuele Neri.
Joint initiative directors named include Michal Neeman (Cell Imaging Network), Nandita deSouza (Cancer Imaging Group), Wiro Niessen (Biomedical Image Analysis Platform), Francesco Sardanelli (EuroAIM), and Oliver Speck (Euro-BioImaging).
Regular members named include Hakan Ahlström, Carlo Catalano, Michael Fuchsjäger, Vicky Goh, Xavier Golay, Jürgen Hennig, Myriam Hunink, Luis Marti-Bonmati, Klaas Nicolay, Konstantin Nicolaou, Anders Persson, Markus Schwaiger, Siegfried Trattnig, and Valérie Vilgrain, EIBIR said.
